This is definitely 'shipper' material, so if you're icky about that, I'm sorry but "Mulder loves Scully and Scully loves Mulder"-CC. An inspiration from Ally McBeal prompted this story,(if you're familiar with the show, NO Mulder is not married or anything of that sort). PG for now, if I decide to continue on the next part a big R will be the rating for it, no overt SMUT since I can't write the stuff belivably, the only thing I know about sex comes from talk and Biology class. Summary? Umm, well, they're my age in this one. Pretty young and inexperienced. Childhood friends etc.... Just read on and find out...Please? (the canadian in me had to be polite) Me: Wow! The disclaimer award, I can't believe it. First I'd like to thank me, but most of all him without whom the X-files and Mulder and Scully wouldn't exist, Chris Carter this is for you....... Sometimes there's only one fish." -Ally McBeal -------------------------------------------------- ONLY ONE FISH jojiefp@sprint.ca "Dana, it's not as bad as San Francisco. I mean this is Boston. It's conservative and tame." Melissa argued to her little sister. Dana was just one short mass of worry. She worried about every little thing that could possibly go wrong. She needed to loosen up and Missy thought that perhaps the new surroundings would relax her nerves. Dana Scully shifted on the bed she lay on. The strawberry blonde strands of her hair splayed on the white pillow. "You know, Da? You have just got to relax for a while. I know your worried about school and all, but you're a natural at academics so you shouldn't even bother yourself with this fear of not getting into college. They'll be stupid not to accept you. It's inevitable for you to get in." Melissa took a breath from her spiel. "Thanks, Mel. I needed that. Harvard is scary though. It's big. Ominous in it's own respect. I might not fit in and fail." "You won't little sis." silence. "Mel?" "What?" she answered her voice muffled by sleep. "You wanna visit the Vinyard?" Melissa sat up, fully awake. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Four years and she still hasn't forgotten about the loser. "It's the fish, isn't it?" her voice with disdain. "Meeel!" Dana warned. "He's the only reason you would even consider going to the Vinyard. Why Dana? He's such a loser. Talk about nuts! I mean he's so weird looking, gawky and disproportionate. What do you see in him?" Dana didn't dignify her sister's insults with an answer. She just couldn't understand that what she had with him went beyond friendship. He was her first kiss. Her first time skinny dipping on the lake. Her first corndog. Her first everything. She was just twelve and he was fifteen, but the comaderie was there. He respected her and treated her like he would an adult. Because he understood that she was more than her stature. Big things came in small packages for him. She was the friend that he needed and he was the one that pushed her into medicine. 'Be what you want to be'. "No Dana, we are not going to see him. He probably forgot all about you anyway. Don't embarrass yourself by reminding him of another little girl from his past." Dana bolted from her curled up possition. "That was a low blow, Melissa! Don't talk about Sam like that." "That's what you were to him, Da. A replacement sister to take care of. Well he's not your brother and your not his sister." She sank back down on the bed defeated. What was the point of trying to convince Melissa of what Fox meant to her? She didn't understand herself. It was the only time did she let her instincts take over. He taught her that. He was her human credential and she his. They made each other whole. She had to somehow get to him. Talk to him, see if he thought of her as much. For four years now, her mind had played what could be if he were there beside her. "Please Melissa, I mean i'm just curious. You can see your own friends while I visit him. " Melissa sighed. There was no derailing Dana's determination. When she wanted something, heaven and hell watch out. "Alright Dana, but only for a couple of hours, then we're back here in Boston. I don't want no teary goodbyes, ok?" "I love you Mel" "Sure. Fine. Whatever." -------------------------------------------------------- "For every test you fail, there's a camel shot in Egypt." - Mr Peters to Adam the Egyptian kid (Music Class 1996) Should I even bother finishing the next part?
