Blair E-Mail: eblair@sonic.net Classification: SAR--Story, Angst, Romance Content: Pre-XF. Mulder/Scully Romance. Spoilers: Pilot. Little Green Men. X-Files: Fight the Future Movie. Rating: PG Archive: OK to archive at: Gossamer and Xemplary. Others: ask me first, and you'll get permission. Disclaimer: The characters of Fox Mulder, Samantha Mulder, and Dana Scully doesn't belong to me. They belong to Chris Carter, Ten Thirteen Productions and the FOX network. Author's Note: I know that Christmas is over, but I wasn't online to post it until now. =( Scully has moved quite a bit so I'm having her in Chilmark near the Mulder family. This takes place a year before the events of Samantha's disappearance. It hints at the abduction itself and a certain hallway scene in a certain movie. Feedback: Always. =) Summary: Little Fox Mulder is curious at what his parents got him for Christmas so he asks Samantha and Dana to help him. Of course, that's not all he finds out... -------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS FUN Written by: Erin M. Blair -------------------------------------- Mulder Residence Chilmark, MA December 24, 1972 "Fox, tomorrow's Christmas!!" Samantha Mulder exclaimed, as her long brown hair was bouncing off her shoulders. She was only seven years old, and loved outdoor activities. She loved running, jumping rope, and playing softball with her close friend, Dana Scully. Of course, the outdoor activities wasn't the only thing that both Samantha and Dana liked. It was playing with Barbie dolls and driving Fox up a wall. "I know that," Fox Mulder said, tiredly. "Are you really going to find out what your getting for Christmas?" "Yes, I am." "Mom and Dad aren't going to like it." "So?" "They'll be upset," Samantha said, with a frown. "I don't care," Fox said, with a sigh. He paused. "Are you going to help me?" "I can't. I'm playing with Dana. We're going to play with her Barbie dolls." She paused. "Then, we're going to play handball." Fox nodded. "That sounds like fun..." "I know." "Except for the doll part." It was twenty five minutes later, and Samantha hurried to get the door before Fox does. "I'll get it, buttmunch!" "No, you don't, Sammy!" Mrs. Mulder saw her two children fighting over who was going to answer the door, and she decided to open it. There stood Dana. She knew that "Hi Dana." She paused, turning around slightly. She saw Samantha and Fox standing in the back of her. "Come right in." "Hi Dana!" Samantha exclaimed, as she led Dana into the house. "Thank you," Dana said, with a smile. "Hi Samantha. Fox." "We're gonna play with your new doll, right?" "Yes," Dana said, as she patted the Barbie doll. Barbie was dressed in a long, pink ball gown and her blonde hair was piled up on top of her head in curls. She took the doll out of her tote bag, and showed it to Samantha. "See?" Samantha took the doll, and she watched her brother run out of the room making gagging sounds. She rolled her eyes and frowned. "Fox hates Barbies except for GI Joes and Star Trek action figures." "Does he hate Ken?" Samantha nodded. "Yes, he does." "I don't like Ken either..." She watched her brother re-enter the living room. "What do you want, buttmunch?" "I...was wondering..." "Wondering what?" "I want to know what Mom and Dad got me for Christmas!" "Fox, you're weird. Mom and Dad will *kill* you if you do!" "If you don't want to go, then Dana will come with me," Fox said, as he gave Dana his famous puppy dog expression. "Please, Dana?" "Dana, say no," Samantha said, with a sigh. "Don't do it." Dana looked at Samantha and Fox, and she drew a sigh. It was against her beliefs to sneak at the Christmas presents, but she couldn't resist Fox's puppy dog expression. It gets her every single time. "OK, I'll go." "You won't be sorry, Dana." "I'm sure that I'll be," Dana said. She watched Fox grab some flashlights. "What are you getting?" "Flashlights. We'll need 'em." "Oh." "Come on," Fox said, as he gently put his hand on the small of her back. He blushed a bit, and then, he recovered quickly as her blue eyes stared at him in wonderment. "I'm coming," Dana said, as she entered the room. It was a huge master bedroom. "Is this where your parents sleep?" Fox nodded. "Yes." He watched Dana open up the closet door. "Great, Scully!" "Scully?" Dana asked. "I don't know why I called you that... It just popped into my mind. You can call me 'Mulder' if you want." "Fine, Mulder. Let's go look at what you're getting this year..." Fox looked at the shopping bags, and looked through them. He saw a board game. "Hey, Scully, look what I found." "Stretego. Who's getting that?" "Samantha. It was on her list. Not mine." "That sounds like fun. Missy and I have it, and we love it." "I hope so," Fox said, with a whisper. He looked at the same shopping bag. He gave an excited yell. "Not so loud, Fox!" "I'm getting a basketball jersey! I always wanted one of those." "Now that you know, Fox. Let's get out of here." Fox nodded. "You're right." They were now in the hallway, and they looked at each other. Mistletoe was under them, and Fox knew what that means. His lips were getting closer to hers, and he could her mouth on his. Their lips were grazing each other's lips until Dana heard Samantha. "Samantha calls." Her face was flushed from their new kiss, and she wasn't sure what it meant. "Will I see you again, Scully?" Dana nodded. He knew that she was moving to Annapolis, Maryland next week. "We'll see each other. I know we will." He paused. "Scully?" "Yes?" "When we see each other, I want us to be married." "Married?" Fox nodded. "Yes." He paused. "Think of it as my Christmas gift to you." FBI Building X-Files Basement Office December 1992 Mulder was looking at some photos of Samantha and himself on his last Christmas day with her. His hazel eyes was teary when he looked up to see Scully. "How long were you standing there?" "Long enough to see you looking at Samantha," Scully said, with a sigh. "Mulder, when was this taken?" "December 25, 1972. Why?" "That was my last day in Chilmark." "You lived in Chilmark? For how long?" "A year and a half," Scully said, with a sigh. "I remember you. You were such a tomboy," Mulder said, with a wistful smile. "I remember how much fun you used to have with Samantha. Christmas wasn't the same when both of you left." "And now?" "It's the happiest time of my life," Mulder said, with a smile. "I'm glad we met again." "So do I." "Do you want us to marry, Mulder?" "I can't believe you remember our Christmas gift, Scully. We'll marry, but not yet. We need to search for the truth, or at least, part of the truth before we marry." "Cold feet?" Scully teased. "No. No, our future. Something tells me that we're going to be busy for quite some time. Scully?" "Yes?" "We're gonna marry someday. I know we will."
